Crosby, Stills and Nash
“It was in South Africa of all places that I should find the
best guitar maker in the world. A unique and lovely sound,
he’s really one of the best.” – Steven Stills.
In 1996 Crosby, Stills and Nash toured South Africa with 2 nights in Cape Town my hometown.
As I knew the promoter I was given the opportunity to present my guitars to the band. After their gigs we sat about for hours playing guitar and talking. Steven Stills and I, along with our ladies, retired to his hotel suite (what a treat). They were great to be with, relaxed and cool, and very impressed with my guitars.
Their praise of my work encouraged me tremendously to go international, which I have achieved. Hanging out with my heroes of “Teach Your Children” and “Woodstock” fame remains to this day one of the highlights of my life as a Luthier. Steven Stills discussed with me a new dreadnought guitar for himself, and when I’ve found the correct timbers for it we’ll meet again, something I look forward to.
